Prior to joining Hony Capital and Legend Holdings, John spent a year as a CEO adviser to UTStarcom Inc. (NASDAQ.UTSI) and Lenovo Group Ltd. (HK.992) where he advises the companies on developing global strategies and executing M&A projects.
Before 2002, John served as a Managing Director of eGarden Ventures, Ltd., a venture capital investment company with investments in US, Hong Kong and China.
Prior to eGarden Ventures, John served as CEO and General Manager for a number of high technology companies in USA. Most recently, John served as Chairman, President and CEO of Infolio, Inc., a San Jose based wireless data infrastructure software start-up developing and marketing mobile enterprise applications. Prior to Infolio, John worked for Vadem Ltd., a Silicon Valley based private company as its Chairman, President and CEO. Before joining Vadem, John was Vice President of Telephony Products at U.S. Robotics, Inc. (NASDAQ: USRX), a leading data communications company (acquired by 3COM in 1997). Before U.S. Robotics, he held various executive positions with Shure Brothers, Inc., a leading manufacturer in the professional audio and teleconferencing industries. Before migrating to the US in 1987, John worked for Jiangsu Radio Factory, a large Chinese stated owned enterprise located in Nanjing, as a division general manager.
Mr. Zhao has an M.B.A. degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He also received M.S. Degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Northern Illinois University and a B.S. degree from Nanjing University.
