Forrest Zhong is a founding partner of KPCB China. He is also a managing director & general partner of TDF Capital. His focus areas of investment include communication & computing technologies, Internet, wireless, and green technologies. He currently serves as director on the boards of A8 Music Group(HKSE:0800), Universtar Tech, Huaxun Microelectronic, UIG (Unisun Image Group), Tang Wind Energy, Sungrow Power, and 9Diamond.com, etc. As lead investor and active board member, Forrest has backed a number of successful IPOs and M&A, including China Wireless (HKSE: 2369), A8(HKSE:0800), China GrenTech (NASDAQ:GRRF), and Fiberxon (Acquired by MRV Communication (NASDAQ: MRVC)). In 2007 Forrest was named one of the Top 20 venture capitalists in China by the Global Entrepreneurs and ChinaVenture. Prior to starting his venture capital career in 1999, Forrest spent about ten years in senior management and operational positions with leading technology companies. He was the Deputy General Manger of China Aerospace International -- the commercial arm of the Chinese national aerospace agency, where he was in charge of the overall operations of its publicly listed company in Hong Kong. Forrest started his career in early 1989 with Nortel Networks in China as a system engineer in digital switching technology and product development. Forrest received his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in engineering from Huazhong University of Science & Technology in China, a PhD in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from the Napier University Edinburgh, UK, and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. |
