John Dean is Managing General Partner of Startup Capital Partners, an early stage venture fund based in Palo Alto, CA. He is an investment director for various venture capital firms, both in the U.S. and overseas, including Advanced Technology Venture (ATV), Institutional Venture Fund (IVP), Walden International, Leapfrog Ventures, and Authosis Capital. In 1997, Business Week recognized Mr. Dean as one of the Silicon Valley' s top 25 "movers and shakers" and, in 2001, Forbes ranked him as one of the "50 most powerful dealmakers." Mr. Dean has 20 years of CEO experience in financial services, most recently, from 1993 to 2001, as the CEO of Silicon Valley Bank, a leading provider of financial services to early stage technology companies and venture capital firms. It should also be noted that Mr. Dean is the Chairman of the Board of Zero2IPO.
