Xiaodong joined NEA in 2005 to help initiate NEA¡¯s direct presence in China. He works closely with a number of NEA¡¯s portfolio companies in the rapidly expanding Chinese market, including Spreadtrum Communications, Telegent Systems, Availink, Redbaby, Baihe, and Ever Century Group Limited. Prior to joining NEA, Xiaodong worked at ONStor Inc., a storage networking start-up in product marketing and business development. He worked at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center on multimodal recognition and was also a Consultant to Hitachi on RFID market strategy in North America. Xiaodong received a Master degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at University of California, Berkeley, where he was a United Nations Fellow. NEA has been helping to build great companies since 1978 and currently manages approximately $9 billion. Among the 500 companies in the IT and Medical sectors NEA has backed, over 150 companies that have gone public and more than 200 have been successfully merged or acquired.
