Prior to GSR, Sonny was the founder/CEO of Asia Wireless Technology. He previously held key executive positions at Nortel Networks. He lead the investment in Shanghai ASMC (HKEX:3355) in 1994, and served as Managing Director for Shanghai Nortel Semiconductors Corp, GuangDong Nortel Telecom Corp and VP/GM for Asia CDMA business.
Sonny grew up in China, and completed his education at the University of British Columbia (Engineering Physics), University of California at Berkeley (Physics/EECS) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan Fellow).
Sonny is currently on the Board of Directors for SMiT, PowerLayer Micro and Quantum Radio; He is the Chairman for LatticePower, a Blue LED company enabling energy saving using disruptive semiconductor lightning technology.
