Duane is a founding partner of Qiming Venture Partners. Duane has close to 20 years of IT industry operational and investment experience. Prior to founding Qiming, Duane was the Director of Intel Capital China. During his 6 year tenure at Intel Capital, Duane was in charge of all of Intel Capital's investment activities in China. Prior to Intel Capital, Duane spent over 5 years at Cisco Systems in China, holding various senior management positions in the sales and marketing organizations. Duane was instrumental in building up Cisco's presence in Southern China and later in the telecom and service provider sector.
Before returning to China in 1994, Duane had a successful engineering and management career in both startup and large global companies in Silicon Valley. Duane started his career in 1988 as a software engineer at 3Com Corporation, and 3 years later joined Kalpana Inc, a Silicon Valley startup company later acquired by Cisco as an engineering manager. Duane was born in China and educated in America. He holds an MBA degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.
