Sung Yong Yoon, KTB network, General Partner Close Window

Mr. Sung Yong Yoon is a General Partner of KTBnetwork, a global venture capital firm supporting innovations and entrepreneurs in the United States, Korea, China, Japan and Singapore.
Based in Palo Alto and Beijing, Mr. Yoon is focused on the information technology sector with emphasis on the communication, semiconductor and Internet space. Since 1994, Mr. Yoon has led KTB's investments in 41 companies in the United States such as Xylan/Alcatel, Copper Mountain Networks (NASDAQ: CMTN), Alteon Websystems/Nortel, Sonus Networks (NASDAQ: SONS), Centillium Communication (NASDAQ: CTLM), Terayon (NASDAQ: TERN), IC Works/Cypress, Polyfuel (LSE: PYF), Airespace/Cisco and Berkana Wireless/Qualcomm. He is active as a board member or a board observer of companies under KTBĄ¯s current investment portfolio including Nuelight, Bitfone, Beceem, Inphi, Novera Optics, Rosum, Staccato and 5Square. Mr. Yoon has also led KTBĄ¯s investments in 3 startup companies in China: Spreadtrum, 5173.com and CNK Technology.
Mr. Yoon previously served as the CEO of a search engine company, Wisenut, prior to its successful merger with Looksmart Ltd. (NASDAQ: LOOK). He also managed the cross-border acquisitions of KTB's portfolio companies in Korea, Internet Auction by eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) in 2001, JobKorea by Monster (NASDAQ: MNST) in 2005 and Integrant Technologies by Analog Devices (NYSE: ADI) in 2006. Prior to managing KTB's investments in the U.S., he managed KTB's investments in Korea and the Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Yoon is currently an advisor to various venture-backed companies in Korea and China. He also advises the Korean government on venture capital and the nurturing of technology startups in Korea. Mr. Yoon is fluent in English, Korean and Mandarin.
