The Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SVCA) was formed in 1992 under the patronage of the Economic Development Board (EDB) to promote and foster the growth in this sector.

Main Activities
The thrust of SVCA's activities are:
• Facilitate interaction among professionals in the Venture Capital (VC) & Private Equity (PE) industry
• Organise meetings on topical issues concerning the VC/PE industry
• Inter-phase between local or foreign government agencies and industry groups
• Host visits by trade groups seeking business alliances and opportunities
• Facilitate link between businesses seeking funds/investment with VC/PE firms
• Talks, seminars, and conferences
• Social and business networking functions
• Publication of newsletters and magazines



Asia Pacific Venture Capital Alliance (APVCA)
SVCA is a founding member of the Asia Pacific Venture Capital Alliance (APVCA) which was established in November 2001 by regional Venture Capital associations (VCAs) in Asia, comprising of Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Korea, with a mission to promote further growth and development of the Venture Capital and Private Equity industry in the region.

The APVCA strives to strengthen the communication and networking among the VCAs, their members and institutional investors. It aims to provide an effective platform to jointly evaluate Venture Capital and Private Equity investment issues, threats and opportunities, in order to formulate policies and prioritize recommendations for concrete action. It will engage in dialogue and cooperation with government agencies and multilateral institutions on improving the quality of the enabling environment and to stimulate the growth of private entrepreneurship and businesses. It also seeks to promote Venture Capital and Private Equity investment in Asia as a recognized asset class.

One of the main focus areas of the APVCA is to initiate professional development efforts and programs to better equip industry practitioners in their investment and fund-raising activities.
